The city's Hogle Zoo (hoglezoo.org) offers kids the chance to get up close and personal with nature, and children can see a collection of over 400 birds in one of the largest and most beautiful birdhouses in the world. The zoo is home to more than 100 species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds of prey and much more.

Also in town is the Salomon Center, which offers a variety of outdoor activities for children and adults, including hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and even flowrider surfing.

A short drive north of Ogden, Eccles Dinosaur Park (dinosaurpark.org) offers children the chance to learn about these prehistoric creatures. Most of the dinosaur bones found in Utah are from living dinosaurs, but there are some that many people don't know. The park also includes a museum that houses a collection of dinosaur fossils, as well as fossils from other parts of Utah, such as the Great Salt Lake, and dinosaur bone finds.

Other galleries and art shops include Ogden Blue, which also offers art courses, and the Art Gallery of Utah (artgallery.org). It contains a large collection of artworks by local artists and artists from all over the world.

I stayed at the Hilton Ogden Utah, which is within walking distance of Historic 25th Street when I lived in Provo. During our visit, we stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites, which is located directly opposite the art gallery, a great place for all the things we wanted to see and do. Here you can see constantly changing exhibits as well as a variety of food and drinks.

Ogden is the promontory of the peak, Utah, where the first transcontinental railway was built in 1869. The city is located directly on Great Salt Lake, the largest lake in the United States, and offers many outdoor activities for all ages.

If you like nature, you will love the 3.8 mile hike that ends at a 40 foot waterfall, and if you are more adventurous, explore historic 25th Street, where you can try your hand at blue ribbon fishing, visit 3 kayak parks or spend some time on the quiet cobbled bike paths. You can simply stroll through the gardens, picnic, enjoy the picturesque views of the city's many parks and paths, and the waterfalls. At Water Hollow Ranch in Bluebell, pumpkin fields, farms and playgrounds are fun places to visit.
